A Brown retrospective

Think back to a time before season's start when huddled in Jackson's backyard we were all so full of optimism and belief that our hand-picked premier league hopefuls would form this year's league winners. Managers were at their most shrewd, dissecting player lists, picking stalwart performers and placing bets on young up'n'comers. The first round pick was the stuff of legend -- Torres, Drogba, Fabregas, Reina, Gerrard, Lampard, Berbatov, Barry -- players of such high-calibre that even they would give Barcelona a run for it's money.

And then it was Brown's turn.

A moment's hush fell over the EPL football fans as the self-confessed rubgy fan made claim to his number one pick - John Carew. Apparently Cannavaro once said he considered Carew the best striker in the world or something. Apparently Cannavaro is an idiot.

Despite being encumbered for a good part of the season with the lumbering Norwegian - Brown has managed to hold onto last spot for the entire season. I'm still rooting for him to make the 1 point dash needed to get off the bottom but I'm not holding my breath.

Brown's commitment to bottom spot almost inspired me to choose 10th palce as the Serious B Lucky Prize, but I'm just not that charitable.

Instead the Lucky Prize is going to place number 6! Why number 6? Well it forms part of the devil's number, and according to Wikipedia it's the first discrete biprime, it's the only number that is both the sum and the product of three consecutive positive numbers and it's a unitary perfect number, a harmonic divisor number and a highly composite number.

And it's also the only position being marginally contested on the table.

No changes in the table this week - but the lucky prize should at least heat up the four-way tussle for sixth spot between Uni Slackers, Barearsalona, socks XI and Stevie G's Bowlcut. Drop some players, pick some up - do whatever ever you can to get the cash (which I'm sure none of you have yet paid Jacks).
